• A lawyer client thinks you did a great job on his case and wants to pay you a Bonus above and beyond your agreed rate and the invoice you submitted. What do you do?????

      Does the lawyer ask you or just send a check? Depends on the circumstances, your relationship with the lawyer or any company policy about gratuities. Accept / decline, cash it or not. As long as your ethics and integrity stays intact maybe don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.


      My own personal policy on this is the following:

      1. Never turn down extra income
      2. Make sure the money is coming from the attorney and NOT their client’s disbursements
      3. Report it on your sales as income

      I think if you stick to this guideline you should be ok.
